Sugar....so much sugar

Been making a few things to order this week, which is a bit of a change for me. First of all, a friend asked me to make a wedding card for her best friend, so I decided to go for a vintage look with the paper dolls.  I went for a 'something blue' theme. I die cut a piece of card with a mixed media die, backed it onto a blue patterned paper, and added a blue ribbon. I coloured key pieces of the wedding couple blue, then die cut their names. I belong to a Facebook group who are doing a giveaway, so I decided to donate a few things. These are paperclay, painted black, brushed with wax and with a bail glued on the back. A similar thing but slightly more intricate. I got some prima bulbs, glued a skeleton paper on the back (can't remember where they came from) then added a pair of paper clay wings to them, coloured with wax. Two notebooks here, done in the same way. I started off by gluing card to the front and back, before p

Lonely as a cloud

Shameless plug! No I'm just kidding. The title refers to what I have done this week, not my post apocalyptic novel. Before I get onto that, first the crafting. I started off with a photo frame from my stash. No idea where this came from. I made multiple items out of paper clay and glued them on, then waited a couple of days for them to dry. Once dry I primed it with black gesso.  I then used a pale chalk paint as a background. I used black gesso again in the paper clay, wiping it away when it was tacky to give the clay pieces some depth, before using silver and gold waxes. I then coloured a piece of card using distress pads, and some stencils, as well as a little embossing powder and crackle stamp. Then I stamped the Stampendous Nevermore stamp. The card was made with thinlit dies. I coloured the birds with promarkers, used Glossy Accents on the balloons and stickles on the hats. The background was inked with two stencils, then a sentiment stamped on

Beadhaul box review,,,plus a few other things

First the Beadhaul box review. This was very late this time, and I honestly don't know how long it will continue as the owner appears to be struggling. As much as I like these boxes, I would rather she give them up and focus her time on her young family if they are stressing her out so much. Anyway, to the April box.  The theme is summer loving - so expect bright things!  Glass beads. I like these, the little flick of red reminds me of flames.  Yellow beads. Not a colour I would usually go for, but they are nice. Daisy charms. I think I am going to paint these before doing anything with them. As you can see, the centre is poorly painted.  Seed beads. What we need are tutorials for basic beading techniques with these. Flower charms/beads. Quite nice, I like the pastel colours. Bee charm. I love this. Understated, yet a perfect charm for summer. Silver findings. Unusual given the charm is gold, but always useful. Here are head pins, eye pins, jump ring
