Beadhaul box review!

When the teaser came up for this, I made a comment, if you like Pina Colada. However, I got the wrong song - it's Club Tropicana!!! (No free drinks though)

Here's the card. It's reminding us of a summer which, looking at the weather, has truly gone.

The card showing everything in it. No tutorial card this time, but the tutorials are always online.

Pineapple charms. The gems in these are so much brighter than they are in the photo.

Fish connectors. I can see a Pisces vibe here, which is obviously good for me!

Palm charm trees. These would be good either with brightly coloured beads or a bright charm.

More pineapple charms, but totally different from the other ones.

Seahorse charms. Interesting colour on these.

A turtle pendant. I love this. Already trying to figure out if i can put something behind it to get a turquoise shell colour

Natural shell beads. This is the kind of thing I'd like to see more of in future - beads that aren't the traditional circular shape.

coconut beads. I'm going to use these with something from a previous box to make a more masculine necklace. That's what I love about these boxes -  you can mix and match stuff.

Findings - always essential. These are eye pins, head pins, jump rings and a necklace chain.

Orange wooden beads. There is one more but it rolled down when i took the picture

Learned my lesson this time and kept them in the bag. Yellow wooden beads.

Turquoise wooden beads. My favourite colour of these.

Green natural shell beads. They have a lovely glow to them.

Acrylic watermelon slices. Attach these to the pineapple and you have a fruit salad.

Acrylic flowers. Love these! Especially the blue and red ones. I'm still trying to work out how you would add them to jewellry without them dangling down though. Will have to hope for a tutorial on these.

Conch shells, made of conch shells, and gold plated. These are absolutely gorgeous. Definitely a necklace/bracelet thing, as though they are light, I'd say they are too big for earrings.
Finally, some leaves. Super light, they aren't so much a charm on their own as an addition to practically anything.

Overall, I love this box. Bright without being childish, the creator has done it yet again. Well done Claire! Definitely got a fan for life here. The next one is October, which obviously lends itself to Halloween (I might be wrong of course), but I'd love to see a similar box to this with an autumn theme in the future.

If you fancy getting Beadhaul yourself, they sell one offs of previous boxes in the Crafty Creatives online shop, or you can sign up (starting from the next box) for £15 every two months.

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. I woke up the other day and it was as if someone had flipped a switch. All of the self-confidence that I had built up through my crafting over the last year has disappeared - just like that. I've spent the large majority of my life thinking that I am not good enough; in what I do, what I say, in short, in who I am. With crafts I was finally starting to believe in myself. So it is very hard at the moment, as I feel that I am right back at square one. I am hoping that this is temporary, and that I will soon feel myself again. I have to remind myself that I am very early in my crafting journey, and there are bound to be bumps along the way. I am aware that it is probably linked to my current state of high anxiety, as susta

Altering again!

My craft mojo came back! I decided to treat myself the other day to a new paper pad, and chose G45 Steampunk Spells. Graphic 45 papers are expensive but boy are they worth it! I wish I'd got into them sooner as there are some older pads that are gorgeous, but unavailable now. Anyway, once I got the pad and overcame the urge to just admire the paper and do nothing with it, I got to work. I decided to try to make something to enter into a couple of challenges, namely the  Craft room something old, something new challenge  and  That's Crafty! Girl power challenge . The first thing to do was to decide what to make. I was going to do a card, but then I found this: This was a cutlery drawer that a friend gave me. To be honest I have been using it to store sharpies in, but no more. Here it is now: What a change! I started by painting it in black acrylic, then got to work on each section. I used the Clockworks paper for the background, cut out some clocks fro

If you leave me now...

A colleague left this week, ready to start her police office training, so I made a funny card for her. I found the definition on Pinterest, then decided to do my own line up for the inside.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here's the update. Not as much done this week cos of Christmas.  Until next year,  Ems
