A review of last year

I was feeling pretty down the other day. I always tend to around birthday time. I think we all do. It's the feeling that you are another year older and, for me anyway, it's the feeling that I have wasted yet another year.

Then I had a thought. Last year was actually pretty good. My depression aside, I actually did more last year than in the previous five years combined. So, here are the highlights of last year for me.

Me and my little brother try our best Zoolander faces...

Biggest thing of last year; I met the Backstreet Boys! I've been fans of them since time immemorial (ok that's an exaggeration) so meeting them was an absolute pleasure.

I stayed in a Disney hotel. It's not the first time I've been to Florida, though it may be the last. I'm planning a possible trip a little further afield in a couple of years time. At the time I was a little disappointed with the holiday itself, but I will still always love WDW.

The final highlight, and possibly the most important. I wrote a book.

OK it's not published yet. But it's something I never thought I'd be able to stick to, and I am so proud of not only completing it, but of the book itself. I've read a lot of books and I can genuinely say that this book deserves to be published. And it will be published if it's the last thing I do. I have to thank this blog (which is strange as I'm the sole writer) for putting me on the creative path because if I didn't have this then I wouldn't have Lonely As A Cloud.

If you hadn't guessed I don't have anything crafty in this post. I'm in the middle of a couple of things, and I don't like putting things on here unfinished, but, rest assured, there will be updates coming very soon.

Speaking of updates, it's time for the financial side of things. I spent some tip money the other day, getting a 90p box from a charity shop, some food for work, and for my birthday, at a cost of £14.72. Then I grabbed money out of my change jar, using £3.20 to post a parcel, getting some photocopies for £5.30 (expensive!!!) and getting some marshmallows, belvita biscuits, walnut whips and fanta for £3.50

On my birthday I was feeling a little down, partly due to the reasons above and partly due to the fact that fates had conspired against me and pretty much all presents were late. (Most still not here) It's nobody's fault (well Yodel for one). I did get a cinema gift card, which will help me during the year, and a Sherlock charm bracelet. I also had a nice meal at the Bullpit a couple of days before, and breakfast at Franky and Bennys on my birthday, as well as a nice meal cooked for dinner.

So shamefully I splurged and got some film cells for £10.35. I'm hoping to turn them into jewellry somehow. Then today I took out £5.90 from my change jar to get some fish and chips.

On the bright side I still have some presents to look forward to!

It's the day before payday so I have transferred the remaining balance into my ISA. £525.32! Another good month. Adding it to last months the grand total so far is £1085.06 - 25% of my target! That's amazing after two months. I just have to keep it up.

Now onto the tasks

1. Starry night cross stitch (on page 3)
2. Complete project book (16/21)
3. complete book plans (no progress)
4. Read and review 100 books (34/100)
5. Make 15 christmas presents (progress)
6. Make 12 birthday presents (6/12)
7. make calendar , box and tags (working on box)
8. Hit minimum savings target (25%)
9. kili cross stitch (no progress)
10. 50,000 words (no progress)

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. I woke up the other day and it was as if someone had flipped a switch. All of the self-confidence that I had built up through my crafting over the last year has disappeared - just like that. I've spent the large majority of my life thinking that I am not good enough; in what I do, what I say, in short, in who I am. With crafts I was finally starting to believe in myself. So it is very hard at the moment, as I feel that I am right back at square one. I am hoping that this is temporary, and that I will soon feel myself again. I have to remind myself that I am very early in my crafting journey, and there are bound to be bumps along the way. I am aware that it is probably linked to my current state of high anxiety, as susta

Altering again!

My craft mojo came back! I decided to treat myself the other day to a new paper pad, and chose G45 Steampunk Spells. Graphic 45 papers are expensive but boy are they worth it! I wish I'd got into them sooner as there are some older pads that are gorgeous, but unavailable now. Anyway, once I got the pad and overcame the urge to just admire the paper and do nothing with it, I got to work. I decided to try to make something to enter into a couple of challenges, namely the  Craft room something old, something new challenge  and  That's Crafty! Girl power challenge . The first thing to do was to decide what to make. I was going to do a card, but then I found this: This was a cutlery drawer that a friend gave me. To be honest I have been using it to store sharpies in, but no more. Here it is now: What a change! I started by painting it in black acrylic, then got to work on each section. I used the Clockworks paper for the background, cut out some clocks fro

If you leave me now...

A colleague left this week, ready to start her police office training, so I made a funny card for her. I found the definition on Pinterest, then decided to do my own line up for the inside.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here's the update. Not as much done this week cos of Christmas.  Until next year,  Ems
