No it isn't bigger on the inside...

As you can tell i love cross stitch, but when you have finished a piece with the intention of gifting it to somebody else, there is a quandary up ahead. Should I put it into a frame? A cushion? Or should I leave it for the recipient to decide? With my latest stitch, i decided to make something a little different.



Using two different materials from previous Crafty Creatives boxes, I decided to make a bag. Once the decision had been made, mum made it for me! I'm still a little reluctant to use the sewing machine. I need to be practise to be honest, but i don't want to practise on someone's present. I did do the cross stitch part though! It was a free pattern i found online, but i decided to change the colours as it was just black on the original pattern.



Here are the updates on the two stitches i am working on currently. I've finally finished page two of the photo stitch. I want to get it done as soon as i can, but at the latest i want to finish it by October, as that would have been Rory's second birthday. 
I have four more cupcakes to do before the backstitch and sequins on the christmas cupcake stitch. Hopefully it won't take too long, and i can start the next project.

I have started work with some of the items from the Crafty Creatives vintage box, designing some bookmarks. However, i am only halfway through them so i will post them when i am finished. Hopefully next week will be a productive week, as i am off work! Yippee! I have a ton of different craft items i plan to do, plus i really want to take the opportunity to finish writing my book. 

I'm also hoping that the week off work will give me the opportunity to clear my head a little, and shake off the depression. I have made small progress this week, by using my exercise bike for the first time in months, and by making an effort with my appearance on my days off. As i have said before, it is easy to get into the cycle of sitting on the sofa in my pj's, and doing nothing, so it did feel good to make a conscious decision to wear something nice, even if i didn't go out of my door.

Spending ban wise i am still doing well. I had my monthly takeaway yesterday by taking my brother out for breakfast for his birthday, and i went through town on my break today and came away with the Boots magazine, as it was free! I still want that trolley though! I was even tempted to count it as my treat on my week off, but i would rather it be my treat at the end of my ban, on the proviso that i am successful of course.

So next week should have at least one post, and should have a fair few different items on it! Hope you will enjoy it

What to do when you hit a wall?

Sorry guys, this is gonna be another pic-lite one. This is for two reasons. The first is because I decided to be a complete idiot the other day and crack my head open on the door at work, so I have to take things easy for a couple of days. The second is strange. Altering again!

My craft mojo came back! I decided to treat myself the other day to a new paper pad, and chose G45 Steampunk Spells. Graphic 45 papers are expensive but boy are they worth it! I wish I'd got into them sooner as there are some older pads that are gorgeous, but unavailable now. Anyway, once I got the pad and overcame the urge to just admire the paper and do nothing with it, I got to work. I decided to try to make something to enter into a couple of challenges, namely the  Craft room something old, something new challenge  and  That's Crafty! Girl power challenge . The first thing to do was to decide what to make. I was going to do a card, but then I found this: This was a cutlery drawer that a friend gave me. If you leave me now...

A colleague left this week, ready to start her police office training, so I made a funny card for her. I found the definition on Pinterest, then decided to do my own line up for the inside.  I've also been working on the stitch. Here's the update.
